nkima clan / monkey clan

ORIGIN OF NKIMA / MONKEY CLAN

The origin of the Monkey Clan depends on the determination of where Kintu, as the first King of Buganda, came from . The origin of Kintu is heaven which renders the origin of the Monkey Clan to have been Buggala in Ssese Island.
Monkey Clan was one of those people who had arrived in the country with Kintu. Balasi built a home in Malangala village in the county of Busujju. It is there that he got his son Bwoya.  Later Bwoya was appointed a Ssaabawaali chief, which is the chief in charge of the bachelor servants of the king. During his service as Ssaabawaali Bwoya got another son by the names of Mulegeya.
Ssekabaka Kintu disappeared and is son Chwa I succeed him. Chwa I got a son by the name of Kalemeera.  Chwa I was scared of disappearing like his father Kintu did, he followed his son keeping watch over him wherever he went. Chwa I sent his son to bunnyoro, while In Bunyoro his uncle the king Winyi lodged Kalemeera with his Principal wife Wannyana of the Grasshoper clan. Kalemeera  intimated with Wannyana and committed adultery with her. The incidence was reported to Winyi   Kalemeera escaped to exile. The child delivered by Wannyana was named Kimera who was preserved by caretaker Mugema. Kalemeera died in exile before reaching home. Chwa I disappeared. And there came a political chaos in Buganda which lasted for about twenty five years. thi made mugema the caretaker of kimera the godfather of kings of buganda
