NALUMUNYE-KATALE ROTARY CLUB TO END WATER SHORTAGE AT BUSAAWULA PRIMARY SCHOOL.
The water shortage at the government school of Busaawula
Primary School C/U in Katale, Seguku has prompted members of the
Nalumunye-Katale Rotarians to fundraise to at least turn it into a well in
order to help pupils study comfortably.
They vowed this during the installation ceremony of their
first ever President Derrick Kalungi and said this will be their first project
after being formed.
Kalungi emphasized that as members, they have a responsibility to help their community where they grew up from by helping residents with challenges they face, as the Rotary principle states.
At the ceremony which was held at Lavena Hotel in Seguku,
Kalungi said; "Because it is from these schools that future leaders come
from, and because children are the young trees that sustain the forest, our
Rotary has decided to construct for them a well from where they will get
water."
He says they will add a water tank where the water will be
stored to end this problem.
He asked his fellow members to work together to be able to
run this new club because unity is strength.
The advisor of this club, Newton Muwonge said, 'Because this Rotary has been born by strong Rotaries, we are going to ensure that we guide it to follow principles that will make it strong'.
Ignatius Kigongo, one of the members of this Rotary said
they are ready to restore the dignity of Rotary because Rotary means humanity
and he asked able people to join them to help those who are not able.
The chief guest at this function, Ken Mugisha from the
Rotary Club of Muyenga, urged Kalungi to listen to the members he leads in
order to take the club forward and also asked members to know their
responsibilities.
Afterwards, he dressed him in the presidential regalia and
handed him the instruments for running Rotary as well as administering the oath
to him.
