the luo ethnic group in east Africa

long ago  the acholi, Lwo and Alur lived together far away in central north Sudan. they migrated south words following river nile to norther Uganda. the luo leaders were brothers that is to say Gipiir and Labongo, were sons of one father Oruum. they were strong and brave but very quarrelsome, each feeling that he was the bravest warrior and the most successful leader over the other. one day early in the morning Gipiir was woken by one of his women. an elephant was wrecking his crops. without a moment's delay, with out calling for help he seized a spear and rushed out of the hut. the spear he took belonged to Labongo an was his favourite. he ran towards the elephant. he threw the spear at it with all great strength. the spear stubbed in the elephant and it rushed away with the spear.

Long ago, in years of 400 to 1200, west of Lake Victoria basin was ruled by immortals or demigods called the Batembuzi. They established a great empire known as Bunnyoro Kitara Empire it covered three quarters of east Africa. However there was king of hell known as Nyamiyongo who became jealousy to the immortals. And he resolved to lure the emperor of Bunnyoro Kitara Empire into his power. By that time ISAZA was the emperor. Nyamiyongo sent ambassadors to Isaza. ORIGIN OF NTE CLAN  Katongole was from bunyoro, he had tailless cow . His leaving was a result of persecution from the king of Bunyoro who married his sister and unfortunately gave birth to an albino (namagoye). The king’s fortune-tellers advised him to kill the child, its mother and Katongole so as to end the cursed linage. ORIGIN OF NKIMA / MONKEY CLAN The origin of the Monkey Clan depends on the determination of where Kintu, as the first King of Buganda, came from . The origin of Kintu is heaven which renders the origin of the Monkey Clan to have been Buggala in Ssese Island. Monkey Clan was one of those people who had arrived in the country with Kintu. Balasi built a home in Malangala village in the county of Busujju. It is there that he got his son Bwoya.  Later Bwoya was appointed a Ssaabawaali chief, which is the chief in charge of the bachelor servants of the king. Kabaka Kintu went with his son Ssebuganda hunt. Ssebuganda had a stick (omugo) which he used to beat up two lions until he killed them. Kabaka kintu (father of ssebuganda) named the stick (omugo) Luwaga. They ate the lions' meat. the lion fresh made them develop severe stomachaches, fever, with vomiting. This made them  abandon eating lion's meat and neither would their children. Then the lion clan began. MPOLOGOMA Clan names. Ddungu (god of hunters)

Ddungu."god of hunters" Ddungu is believed to be the god of hunters in Buganda kingdom. He came from bunyoro kingdom to Buganda and he is said to have camped in mabiira forest in kyagwe.  Many Baganda claimed that ounce they bells sounding and dog bucks in wilderness the say that dungu is hunting and there should be success in hunting field. Even when you set a trap and you hear the sound of hunting bells  of Ddungu just visit you trap to pick you're hunt.

The origin of the Baganda. Long ago their lived a man in wilderness known as KINTU. Kintu lived with his one beloved cow. It is believed that kintu got all food from his cow. He drunk milk and ate dung from his cow. One day kintu was wandering in wilderness and so a beautiful lady known as Nambi . He admired the lady and asked her to marry him. Nambi  was Guru's(heaven) daughter. Nambi  had two brothers that is kayikuzi and Walumbe(god of death). Nambi  accepted to marry Kintu and they arranged and visited Guru nambi's  father. When they arrived to guru's palace, Guru welcomed them. Kintu introduced him self to Guru and that he wanted to marry his daughter. Guru accepted but he established tasks for kintu. Guru asked kintu to bring him water in a basket. Kintu fulfilled his task and went on the well to fetch water. He drew the basket in the well but nothing could be fetched in the basket. Kibuka omumbale.a "god of war"

Buganda's god of war Kibuka omumbale was mukasa's brother. Mukasa is the god of all lakes and waters in the world. Buganda kingdom waged war of expansion on bunyoro kingdom. In this war king Nakibinge " ssekabaka Nakibinge" asked for help from mukasa the god of lakes. Mukasa asked his brother kibuka the god of war to fight for Buganda. Kibuka stationed him self in a cloud and threw arrows to bunyoro fighter's. And they were defeated marking Buganda victorious in the war against bunyoro. There were a number of captives or prisoners of war and a variety of things captured from bunyoro like royal regalia this earned Buganda wealth. Bachwezi empire

Bachwezi/ chwezi. The bachwezi were  descendants of the Batembuzi. The batembuzi were the original settlers in the great lakes region and along the great east African valley. They are believed to have been demigods. They just disappeared and they were descended by the chwezi dynasty. The chwezi are being proclaimed as the great civilised east African empire. The chwezi empire . The empire stretched from  East of Democratic republic of Congo, Uganda western Kenyaq, northern Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi Zambia, south Sudan. The chwezi had the headquarters in present day central Uganda. Social life of the chwezi.  The chwezi had multiple herds of cattle they used to wander with the cattle a cross their empire. Japadhola/ Badama

The jopadhola / badama are Eastern tribe found in eastern Uganda. They belong to the nilotics group of migrants who followed the route of river Nile from northern Uganda . Sudan is their cradle land . The badama belong to the luo speaking group. They speak dhopadhola language which originates from luos. The jopadhola believe that they belong to Adhola who is said to be their original ancestor. That means that adhola started the japadhola tribe. They used to marry at age of 14. Boys in families could hunt wild animals for food . girls used to gather fruits for food.  The jopadhola believed that jok was the supreme being .they offered sacrifices to jok. In return he could reward them with rain and heavy harvest. Nowadays the japhadola practicing mixed farming. They grow crops such as millet and sorghum that is used in brewing local bear called "malwa". This unites elders under trees on beer parties.

Basamya tribe

The basamya is among eastern tribes in Uganda. They speak lusamya as their native language. They belong to Bantu group of people. Who are believed to have migrated from Congo basin. The came to settle in eastern from west. The basamya practice subsistence farming. Mainly the produce is for home consumption. They also rear goats, pigs, rabbits and others. They used to wear skins and hides from livestock. The samya still perform barbaric female genital mutilation. This has brought about females childlessness.

The bahire dynasty

The bahire is a tribe found in northern region of Tanzania. The are a hospitable type of people locate in jagera region. They practice mixed farming though on small scale. They poses Longhorn cattle. they also grow serial crops like millet, sorghum, maize, beans and others. Sorghum is used to make local bear called pombe. They used to live in home steady. Huts of mud we're constructed for settlement. They also believed in gods. They had gods of rains, lakes and rivers and others. They also believed in ancestral spirits.

BANYARWANDA

The  banyarwanda They belong to the humites  group of people who are believed to have originated from Ethiopia in the 16th century. The banyarwa are currently recognized as a tribe in Uganda. They came in Uganda in 1950s after the crisis brought about by the death of of Mwami Mutara ll  . his death made the ruling tribe of the batusi over the batwa and the bahutu which are subtribes of the bannyarwanda

Bakonzo/ banande

THE BAKONZO/BANANDE These live in western Uganda and east of Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a centralized tribe. In Uganda they live along mountain rwenzori slopes. They occupy districts of kabalole, bundibugyo and kasese. They carry out subsistence farming and fruit gathering together with hunting to supliment their dirty. The bakonzo are under rwenzuru kingdom under making known as omumbere. The bakonzo are a Bantu tribe therefore speak the NTU language. The bakonzo are very short type of people known as pigmies. They also carry fire wood on their backs tying a string on head.

The origin of karimajong and their life style

The karimajong It is believed that they originated from south of Ethiopia. It is believed that they belonged to a large group of wanderers known as the Jie. The karimajong are a pastoral group that settled in north eastern Uganda. They broke away from the Jie and settled north eastern Uganda saying that "the elders are tired" and were named the karimajong. The karimajong are a hostile group of people in north eastern Uganda. They poses guns that they use to raid the Masai and turkana pastoralists in northern Kenya. They are a primitive tribe. They believe that every cattle in the world belongs to them. Therefore they capture every cattle they come upon  as they graze. They in districts such as Kotido, Kabong, moroto, and others. with observation from the images karimajong s manage the life stile. The karimajong  are specifically pastoralists not farmers. They construct temporary houses. Mud hhuts and grass thatched.

Bagisu tribe and embalu ( circumscion ritual)

The Bagisu It one of  Ugandan tribes in east. They live along mountain Elgon (masaba). It is said that they were ancestors of kintu. They practice agriculture for their servival. The favorite dish of the Bagisu is amalewa ( a certain type of mountain bamboo). The are home welcoming, social in nature. They believed in local gods for example they worshiped mountain Elgon. The Bagisu perform initiation ceremony to prove manhood. Youth of 18 years and above under go circumscition (embalu). This is done by local surgeons using knives to cut off foreskin. Before the candidates dance local dance called kadodi throughout night to morning when circumscition is done after embalu is cut the candidate is ready for marriage. Basoga

The Basoga It is a tribe found in central Uganda. They speak lusoga as their language. They have a cultural leader known as kyabazinga ( king) and sub chiefs governing local villages they also carry out subsistence farming mainly for home consumption. They live chiefdom administration.

Banyankore

The Banyankore This is another tribe in Western Uganda . it's commercial activity is cattle rearing and some cultivation done on a small scale. The banyankore rear long horn cattle. The cattle one poses makes him  wealth among them. They used cattle as dowry. One to marry has to pay a number of cattle heads to the Bride's family. The banyankore are sub divided into two, ie the Bahima ( herdsmen) and the biru ( farmers) The banyankole hard a king known as omugabe. The king hard supreme powers over his subjects. It is said that the omugabe could rest his spear in his subject' feet. It is also said that the omugabe Ku spit in his subject's mouth. The banyankore process ghee/ butter from milk. butter would be used in every dish. Some of banyankore fishes are ishabwe, etc.......

Acholi

 The Acholi. The are located in northern Uganda. They are ancestors of Gipili, Labongo and lumu. The three were brothers who originated from south Sudan. The three brothers arrived at pubungu in northern Uganda where they settled. Chaos came when Gipili' son swallowed Labongo's bead. The two brothers dispersed at pubungu and took different directions

Bakiga

The bakiga It is among small tribes in Uganda. It dominates south west of Uganda. The bakiga speak lukiga as their ancestry language. The bakiga are hospital in nature though rough while speaking. There more of commanding than requesting. They carry out subsistence farming. They grow crops like sorghum, millet, banana, and others

THE ITESO It is one of the largest tribe in eastern Uganda. It is commonly know for cattle rearing. They are believed to have originated from south of Ethiopia and Sudan . itesos also practice some small scale farming. They mainly plant serial crops like millet, sorghum and vegetables. They used to wear skins and hides. they also hunt wild animals to support their deity. Also fruit gathering is done to supplement on their subsistence farm production. The iteso were wonderers by the end of seventeenth century. Nowadays itesos are settled in Eastern Uganda . they occupy districts such as pallisa, soroti, and others.they are a decentralized tribe. Under chiefs governing over small communities. Iteso are hospital in nature. Iteso have ancestral gods they believe in. These were believed to be with supreme powers over the iteso. Baganda culture It is one of the famous cultures in Uganda. People with in this culture are hospital to whoever Vist them. The baganda are the most organised group of people in Uganda. There under kingdom leadership structure. The king "kabaka" has supreme power over his subjects. Under kabaka muteesa1 Buganda invited the British colonists intending to eradicated illiteracy among the baganda as explores had explained to him. He accepted the arrival of British colonists. The baganda didn't fight colonist due to their hospitality. The baganda under the kabaka are organised under clans. African culture Africa is one of the bigest continents that make up the world. Africa pose's a variety of cultures that varry according regions, fore instance geographic locations favour certain cultures in africa, temperature ratios also determine existence of certain cultures, vegetation types also enables existence of some cultures in africa. Cultures are determined by tribes, for example baganda, batwa, bakiga, banyankore, bagisu, karamajong, luo, iteso, basoga, basongola, bamoli, batoro,samya, sebei, badama, acholi, and others. All of the mentioned tribes are in Uganda but the cultures defer.
